One arrested and 21 cited during Berkeley PD DUI Checkpoint
On August 12th, one (1) driver was arrested for Driving under the influence and twenty-one (21) drivers were cited for being unlicensed. The DUI checkpoint was held at the intersection of Adeline Street and Alcatraz Avenue from 7 pm to 2 am. A total of 446 vehicles were contacted.
DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints are to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.
Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
