Crime Alert Bulletin Covering the Week of August 8-14, 2022

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Notable Cases

On Wednesday, 08-10-22, at approximately 7:30 a.m., officers were called to the area of Lake Merced Boulevard and Southgate Boulevard regarding two subjects cutting the catalytic converter off of a vehicle. When officers arrived, an alert citizen described the suspects and the vehicle, including its license plate. A short time later, Broadmoor PD found the vehicle but lost sight of it. Broadmoor officers alerted Daly City officers, and moments later, the vehicle was located traveling northbound on I-280 towards San Francisco. Officers stopped the vehicle and both suspects were arrested. Two stolen catalytic converters were found inside the vehicle. Manel Patenio, a 28-year-old Vacaville resident, and Michelle Robinson, a 26-year-old Fairfield resident, were booked into jail on numerous felony charges. Excellent job by the alert citizen who witnessed and reported the theft.

Robberies

There were no robberies during the past week.

Residential Burglaries

There were two residential burglaries during the past week.

On Monday, 08-08-22, at approximately 5:52 a.m., officers were dispatched to the unit block of Clifton Drive on a report of three male suspects breaking into a residence’s garage. The suspect vehicle was described as an older model black four-door sedan. The victim described one of the suspects as a male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood over his head and black jeans. The suspects crashed their vehicle into the garage door and entered the garage. There was nothing stolen. The suspects fled southbound on Clifton Drive towards Southgate Avenue. This investigation is continuing.

On Tuesday, 08-09-22, at approximately 4:00 p.m., on the unit block of Bel Mar Avenue a victim heard his name called from across the street. The victim thought that it was someone from his church and approached them. When the victim approached the black SUV, he noticed a skinny, light-skinned female who was 20-30 years old with black shoulder-length hair, a 30-year-old medium build, light-skinned male with light-colored eyes, and a child in the car. The female suspect told the victim they had run out of gas, needed money to return to Florida, and had their wallets stolen. The male suspect, at one point, took his necklace off and showed it to the victim. The victim said he felt bad for them and went inside his residence to get water and money for them. The victim left his front door unlocked and cracked open. The female suspect entered the residence without permission and then left. The victim gave the suspects $400 willingly. When another resident went to check his wallet, he noticed $50 and bank statements were missing, which he suspects were taken by the female suspect. The victim later noticed that he had a gold chain around his neck, given to him by the suspects, along with a bracelet and ring. This investigation is continuing.

Nextdoor.com

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try!  www.nextdoor.com
