On 08-19-2022 at 3:13pm, deputies responded to a motor vehicle crash on Rio Grande Rd near Deer Haven Ln. Initial investigation revealed that a truck left the roadway for unknown reasons and crashed into a tree. After crashing, the truck caught on fire. One occupant was able to be freed from the truck and was transported from the scene by helicopter for medical treatment with severe injuries. Unfortunately, the other occupant, believed to be the driver, was trapped inside and died at the scene. The crash is still under investigation. Our thoughts and prayers are with all involved.
