FOUR ARRESTED AT ESCONDIDO DUI CHECKPOINT
While conducting a DUI checkpoint on August 19, 2022, Escondido Police arrested two drivers for driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, one person for possession of cocaine, and one for a felony warrant out of Illinois.
The checkpoint was held at Centre City Parkway and Decatur Way from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m.
13 drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license. 549 vehicles were contacted.
Checkpoint locations are based on a history of crashes and DUI arrests. The primary purpose of checkpoints is not to make arrests, but to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired.
The Escondido Police Department is committed to keeping the public safe when they are traveling. The Escondido Police Department will hold another DUI/Driver’s License checkpoint in April 2022.
Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
