Incident Summary:
 
On August 19, 2022, at 11:36 pm Petaluma Police Officers were dispatched to Cal West Rentals at 1300 Petaluma Blvd North for an alarm activation.  Officers arrived on scene and located Anthony Ray Smith of Petaluma inside the closed business.  Smith was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Jail for 459 PC; Burglary and 1203.2 PC; Violation of Probation. 
 
A combination of a functioning alarm and good police work led to the arrest of Smith.  There are numerous commercial and residential alarms throughout the city of Petaluma.  Business owners and residents who employ alarm systems can help deter criminal activity such as this by ensuring their alarm systems are functioning properly.  This is another example of community members contributing to making Petaluma a safer place to live.
