Location: 400 block of Acadia Drive, Petaluma
Incident Summary:
This morning at 9:31 AM, the Petaluma Police Department officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Acadia Drive to check the welfare of an area resident. Upon arrival, officers received information that one of the residence's occupants sustained a stab wound and was injured inside. Officers entered the residence and located a deceased adult male with numerous stab wounds.
The Petaluma Police Department Investigations Unit responded to investigate the incident. Due to the nature of the assault, the Petaluma Police Department requested Field & Evidence Technicians from the Santa Rosa Police Department to respond for additional assistance. Based on the initial investigation, officers identified the suspect as Christopher Hopkins, a 19-year-old Petaluma resident. Hopkins was on-scene when officers arrived, and he was arrested for 187(a) PC, Murder.
The Sonoma County Sheriff's Coroner's Office took custody of the deceased body for identification and further investigation. The identity of the victim is not being released at this time.
