INCIDENT: Non-Injury Boat Accident
LOCATION: Lake Havasu, near Skier's Island
SUMMARY: On August 18, 2022, at approximately 7:25 p.m., Marine Enforcement deputies responded to a report of a sinking boat on Lake Havasu, in the vicinity of Skier's Island. The boat was attempting to navigate towards Parker Dam, after departing the area of Thompson Bay during a series of large storms that were actively occurring in the area. The boat began to take on water and eventually sank. The two occupants onboard the boat were able to exit and swim to the nearby California shoreline, where they were picked up by the responding deputies.
On August 22, 2022, San Bernardino County Sheriff's divers assisted Tow Boat US divers in locating and recovering the sunken boat. The boat was located via a Sheriff's Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV) in 40 feet of water, approximately 220 yards off the California shoreline. The boat was brought to the surface and recovered by Lake Havasu Tow Boat US.
