2. PETIT LARCENY (A- MISDEMEANOR)
ARRAIGNMENT/BAIL STATUS: Drescher was processed at Amsterdam Police Headquarters where he then was arraigned in front of the Honorable JudgeLisa W. Lorman.
INCIDENT NARRATIVE: On June 16th at approximately 7:10 p.m. Amsterdam Police were notified of a stolen purse from a business on Forest Avenue in the city. Amsterdam patrol officers responded to the business to conduct an interview with the victim and canvass the area for witnesses. After speaking with the victim it was determined the purse contained a quantity of cash and credit cards. A detective assisted in the investigation and was able to obtain video footage of the crime using nearby surveillance sources. The ensuing canvass resulted in the purse being located in a hedgerow nearby. The purse had been emptied of its contents and discarded by the suspect. Through further investigation the suspect was identified as Marc V. Drescher of Amsterdam. On August 16th Drescher arrived at police headquarters where he was taken into custody and processed on the above charges.
While there was probable cause for this arrest, all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
