* Flash Flood Warning for... Western Imperial County in southeastern California...

* Until 1015 PM PDT.

* At 416 PM PDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Up to 1 inch of rain has fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... El Centro, Imperial, Plaster City, Ocotillo, Salton City, Westmorland, El Centro Naval Airfield, Mt. Signal, Mountain Spring, Salton Sea Beach, Desert Shores, Dixieland, Coyote Wells, Seeley, Winona and Coolidge Springs. This includes the following highways... CA Route 78 near mile marker 1...and between mile markers 10 and 13...and between mile markers 2 and 6. CA Route 98 near mile marker 1...and between mile markers 10 and 18. CA Interstate 8 near mile marker 1...and between mile markers 10 and 18. CA Route 86 between mile markers 10 and 12...and between mile markers 29 and 35. This includes the following streams and drainages... New River, Salton Sea, Carrizo Wash, South Fork Palm Wash, Tule Wash, Wonderstone Wash, Salt Creek Slough, Myer Creek, Coral Wash, Fish Creek Wash, Tarantula Wash, San Felipe Creek, Palm Canyon Wash, Boulder Creek and Gert Wash.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
