IMLAY CITY’s Fifth Water Distribution Cycle

Friday August 26th, 2022 10am-12pm

Eastern Michigan Fairgrounds
195 Midway,
 Imlay City MI, 48444

GLWA has lifted their Boil Water Alert for their 7 water customer Communities in southeast Michigan.  GLWA takes full responsibility for their water main break and the interruption in service to the municipalities and the inconvenience, concerns and hardships experienced by the residents.

The City of Imlay City is presently primarily supplying water from the city’s stand-by wells.  The water is being treated and tested to assure safe drinking water is being supplied to the residents.  The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy, GLWA and the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS) are all monitoring and testing the water to assure we maintain safe drinking water for all communities involved.

The water is safe to drink; however, anomalies exist in the color, appearance and the taste because we are using a different source than the residents are used to. It may not visually look or taste the way our residents are accustom to.  The well water is hard water and it is not being run through a water softener therefore it may leave hard water spots on dishes and or laundry, however it is safe to use.

Even though the water is safe, we have heard the concerns of Imlay City water customers and will hold a Fifth Water Distribution Event.  This is scheduled for Friday August 26th at the Imlay City Fairgrounds from 10am until 12pm. We will be distributing 4,1-gallon jugs per household.

Entry into the fairgrounds will be off of Almont Ave. Residents will be directed to drive over to the Midway inside, get their water and then exit out onto Borland Road. The Imlay City Police Department will provide security at the site and assist in directing the flow of traffic into and out of the fairgrounds.

Officials from Imlay City will be checking IDs at the gate to ensure only Imlay City Water customers are admitted to the site to get their water. Non-residents will be turned away.
