Supervisor Barber’s Weekly Newsletter (No. 8) (Thursday, August 25, 2022)

The Governor announced this week that the State would apply CDC’s new guidance for its updated recommendations after an exposure to COVID-19.  The new recommendations should minimize disruptions and absences in schools.  The Governor also hinted that, in light of improving trends in COVID data, the Governor’s pandemic State of Emergency would not be extended beyond September 12.  In anticipation of colder weather and more extended time indoors, the FDA and CDC are accelerating their review, and likely approval by Labor Day, of COVID-19 boosters that target the more prevalent Omicron subvariants.  You can find more details and other relevant COVID-19 information below.

The new sidewalks on Western Avenue to the Guilderland Public Library and on West Old State Road to Lynnwood Elementary are on schedule for completion in the next few weeks.  We received notice this week that the new sidewalk on Carman Road from the new roundabout at Lydius Street to Pine Bush Elementary should be completed by mid-October.

The Town has issued noticed to proceed for constructing the new EMS ambulance station at the entrance of the Town golf course.  The building shell should be substantially completed by mid-December, and will allow for interior work in the winter.  The new station should be operational by spring.
