PRESS RELEASE: Armed Robbery Investigation Lands Suspect in Jail
On August 23, 2022, at approximately 11:02 a.m., Turlock Police Dispatch received a call of an armed robbery at business located in the 1600 block of Lander Avenue. A victim employee described the responsible as a White female with a thin build, wearing a mask and armed with a handgun. The responsible was last seen running from the business and fleeing in a gold colored SUV.
Officers responded to the business and were able to locate surveillance footage of the SUV and its license plate. With this information, a broadcast of the vehicle was released to our surrounding law enforcement partners. A short time later, the vehicle was spotted in the City of Ceres by a Stanislaus County Sheriff Deputy and was stopped.
Detectives responded to the stop location and were able to speak with the driver of the SUV. During this interview, more information involving the crime was learned, which led to Detectives obtaining a search warrant.
Later that evening, at approximately 8:53 p.m., the Turlock Police Department S.W.A.T. team served the search warrant at a Ceres residence, located in the 2600 block of Rose Avenue. Multiple people were detained and questioned, which led to additional information about the identity and whereabouts of the robbery suspect.
Yesterday, at approximately 10:06 a.m., Turlock Police Detectives, acting on information they discovered during their investigation, spotted the robbery suspect, Turlock resident, April Breann Croy, 32 years-old, and contacted her in the 100 block of North Tully Road.
As a result of an interview with Croy, the location of the firearm used in the crime was discovered and the firearm was later seized. Croy was arrested and booked, without incident, at the Stanislaus County Jail on robbery charges.
