Crime Alert Bulletin Covering the Week of August 15-21, 2022

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Robberies

There were no robberies during the past week.

Residential Burglaries

There were two residential burglaries during the past week.

On Wednesday, 08-17-22, at approximately 11:49 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Templeton Avenue on a report of a residential burglary. The suspect(s) used a metal pole to force entry through the back door. It appears that nothing was stolen. This investigation is continuing.

On Friday, 08-19-22, at approximately 9:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Skyline Drive on a report of a residential burglary. A resident heard loud noises outside her door, which she believed was construction within the residence. This resident then heard an internal door open to her room and saw a 35-50 year old black male wearing a ski mask, long sleeve dark-colored jacket/sweater, and dark pants. The suspect was holding a doorknob and locking mechanism from a door. The suspect grabbed the victim’s cell phone out of her hand and another cell phone on the desk and left her room. The victim ran to a neighbor’s house to call the police. The secure interior door was kicked or forced open. The hollow door was damaged, cracked, and missing the doorknob. The property owners were contacted and came to the residence. Two suitcases, jewelry, approximately $10,000 in purses, and $5,000 in cash were stolen by two suspects. The second suspect (unknown race and gender) wore a grey beanie, black sweater, grey pants, and black shoes. It appears that the suspects made entry from a window. This investigation is continuing.

Commercial Burglaries

There were two commercial burglaries during the past week.

On Wednesday, 08-17-22, at approximately 3:57 a.m., two suspects pried open the front door of The Smoke Shop, possibly with a crowbar, and took $500 cash from the register and miscellaneous tobacco products. The first suspect is described as a black male in his 20s, wearing a black hat, black and grey Marshawn Lynch jersey, and black pants. The second suspect was described as a black male in his late 20s, wearing a black hoodie with a white tee shirt underneath and black pants. This investigation is continuing.

On Wednesday, 08-17-22, at approximately 4:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Habit Grill on a report of a credit card fraud that just occurred. A victim stated that he dropped his wallet in Macy’s when he reached for his phone. The victim received notification that his credit card was used at Sephora and the Habit Grill. The victim was able to track down the suspects at the Habit Grill and obtained a copy of the transaction from an employee to match the credit card numbers. The victim and another person watched the suspects exit Habit Grill and enter the Dignity Health Urgent Care Facility. After five minutes, the suspects exited and walked north on Gellert Boulevard toward Serramonte Boulevard. Officer Fulmore stopped both suspects. The victim and the other person confirmed that the suspects were the same individuals inside the Habit Grill. Both suspects possessed merchandise from multiple stores from the Serramonte Shopping Center, which still had price tags and security tags. One of the suspects, a 19-year-old San Francisco resident, was arrested and booked into jail for burglary, ID theft, and conspiracy. The other suspect, a 32-year-old San Francisco resident, with the victim’s credit cards in his possession and receipts documenting the fraudulent purchases, was also arrested and booked into jail for the same charges, along with two warrants.

Nextdoor.com

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try!  www.nextdoor.com
