Suspect Taken into Custody After Assaulting the Victim with a Glass Bottle

INCIDENT: PC 245(A)(1) Assault with a Deadly Weapon
LOCATION: 1400 Block of Needles Highway
SUSPECT(S): Leyla Anderson, 18-year-old resident of Mohave Valley, AZ
VICTIM(S): Confidential
SUMMARY: On Thursday, August 25, 2022, at approximately 9:54 p.m., deputies from the Colorado River Station/Needles Police Department responded to the 1400 block of Needles Highway regarding an assault that just occurred.
Through investigation, it was determined Leyla Anderson struck the victim in the face with a glass bottle causing a large lacertion. Anderson continued the assault by repeatedly punching the victim before fleeing the scene.
Anderson was located by deputies near the scene and taken into custody. Anderson was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for PC 245(a) (1) – Assault with a Deadly Weapon, with bail amount of $50,000 and remains in the custody of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department while awaiting a court hearing.
