Public Intoxication Leads to Convicted Felon in Possession of a Loaded Stolen Firearm Arrest

On 08/26/22, at approximately 1112 hours, a SRPD officer responded to the 300 block of W. 3rd St on a report of an intoxicated male. Upon arrival, the officer located a subject matching the description provided by the reporting party. The officer contacted the subject and asked him for identification. The subject spontaneously told the officer he had a firearm in his backpack. The officer arrested the subject for public intoxication and searched him incident to arrest. A loaded Beretta PX4 .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun was located in his backpack. A record check on the subject revealed he was a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing firearms and/or ammunition.

A record check on the firearm showed it to be stolen out of Modesto.

The officer transported the subject to a local hospital for medical clearance due to his intoxication level. As the officer escorted the subject toward the hospital, the subject attempted to pull away from the officer's grasp several times. Upon being medically cleared, the subject, identified as 30 year old Santa Rosa resident Bryant Galvan, was booked into the Sonoma County Jail for the following charges:

- 29800(a)(1) PC - Felon in Possession of a Firearm
- 30305(a)(1) PC - Prohibited Person in Possession of Ammunition
