Three Deceased in the 2800 Block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way
The Oakland Police Department (OPD) is investigating a shooting that occurred this evening, August 26, 2022, just after 7:15 PM, in the 2800 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way. Officers were dispatched to the area to investigate a ShotSpotter activation.
Upon arrival, officers located two individuals suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, and a bicyclist who was struck by a vehicle. All three individuals were pronounced deceased on scene.
Homicide and Traffic callouts were initiated, and investigators responded to begin the follow-up investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting(s) and fatal vehicle collision. The victims’ identities are being withheld pending notification to next of kin.
