Press Release For Harris County Precinct 3 Deputy Constable Omar Ursin.
Press Release
August 29, 2022
On August 28, 2022 at approximately 6:30 p.m., Deputy Omar Ursin was gunned down while picking up dinner for his family near Madera Run Parkway and Timber Forest in Atascocita. The Harris County Sheriff's Office is overseeing the investigation and is actively seeking information from the public.
As a department, we are in utter disbelief and unable to comprehend this senseless act. Deputy Ursin was a colleague, a friend, a brother and so much more.
His bright smile and warm presence will never be replaced. Deputy Ursin was a 6 year veteran of the department, where he served as a Toll Road Deputy and a School Resource Officer. Most recently, he was serving as an Environmental Crimes Investigator. We are proud to have known and learned from him.
The loss of our brother is devastating.
Omar, a Channelview native, volunteered with youth outreach programs mentoring foster children before entering into the police academy.
He was a devoted son, husband and father who loved his family immensely. He leaves behind his parents, wife, daughter, siblings and countess friends and family. We know they will cherish his memory forever, as will we.
Any funeral arrangement information will be released as the family wishes. All requests regarding that information will be deferred until the family decides when/if they release it.
If you have any information regarding this senseless tragedy, we urge you to come forward by contacting the Harris County Sheriff's Office at 713-274-9100.
Please keep the Ursin Family and our Precinct 3 Family in your prayers.
