**COMMUNITY ACADEMY APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN**

With great enthusiasm, the Petaluma Police Department announces our fall 2022 session of the Community Academy. Understanding that mid-week academies are challenging for those who work, this year’s session is being scheduled on four consecutive Saturdays from 9 am to 5 pm to ensure more people have an opportunity to participate.

The Community Academy will run on September 17, October 15, November 19 and culminate on December 10 with our scenario day at the Santa Rosa Junior College Public Safety Training Center.

The Community Academy offers participants an inside look at police operations and how their police department is structured. In addition, Participants will have the opportunity to meet and interact with the Chief of Police, Command Staff, Police Officers, and Civilian Personnel within the agency. Community members will also learn about specialized departments, training protocols, and local policies and be able to hear about how Police Departments evolve to address community concerns such as unsheltered populations, crime trends, and mental health.

This academy is designed for individuals living in Petaluma who are at least 18 years old and have no felony convictions. All applicants are subject to basic records check prior to acceptance for the course.

If the Community Academy sounds exciting to you, please download the application form here: https://bit.ly/3Cu2Kjf or at Petaluma Community Police Academy Application - Petaluma (cityofpetaluma.org)
