Homicide Suspect Arrested at Green Bay Hotel

On September 1, 2022, at approximately 3:20 a.m., Green Bay Police took homicide suspect, 31-year-old Alejandro Cantu of De Pere into custody.

Cantu was wanted for the murder of 34-year-old Randall Denny of Hobart that occurred on April 30, 2022, when Green Bay Police responded to the intersection of Western Avenue and Perkins Avenue in the early morning hours for a report of gun shots along with a person laying in the road.

On August 31, 2022, Green Bay Police were notified that Cantu had returned to the Green Bay area after he was believed to have been in Texas.

Officers and investigators began utilizing the City’s license plate readers upon notification that Cantu was in the area, and they were able to identify the vehicle that Cantu was traveling in. An attempt to locate was sent out to all local departments. A Brown County Deputy located the vehicle unoccupied at a hotel on the east side of Green Bay at 12:40 a.m. on Thursday and notified Green Bay Police.

Cantu along with three adult females were detained at the hotel without incident by Green Bay Police.

A search warrant was granted for the hotel room known to be occupied by Cantu along with the other parties. Narcotics and paraphernalia were found in the room and seized. This evidence is being processed and tested, and all reports will be forwarded to the Brown County District Attorney’s Office for additional charges.

Cantu was transported to the Brown County Jail on a warrant for 1st degree intentional homicide.

The three females who were with Cantu were all interviewed and released.

Detectives are reviewing all the evidence for appropriate additional charges for those involved.

Cantu was the final suspect who police were still seeking to arrest in the death of Mr. Denny.
