With the Labor Day weekend fast approaching, the Amarillo Police Department would like to remind everyone that there is a great possibility that there will be more cars on the road. Anytime there are more cars on the roadway there is a better chance of an accident occurring. A Comprehensive STEP (selective traffic enforcement program) and CMV (Commercial Motor Vehicle) grants were received from the Texas Department of Transportation that will allow for extra officers to be on patrol enforcing traffic laws over the weekend. Both grant funded and regular patrol officers will be out looking for seatbelt, speed, and alcohol related violations. We just ask that everyone be safe and if you drink…don’t drive. We hope that everyone has fun and safe holiday weekend.
Amarillo Police received two grants to enforce DWI and unsafe driving for the Labor Day weekend.
