Crime Alert Bulletin Covering the Week of August 22-28, 2022

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.  
 
  
Notable Cases
 
On Wednesday, 08-24-22, at approximately 3:53 a.m., Officer Delorenzi was called to the 200 block of Belhaven Avenue on the report of a suspicious person hanging around a vehicle. Officer Delorenzi contacted 31-year-old Daly City resident, Andrew VilchezDavila, standing next to a vehicle. While speaking to Mr. VilchezDavila, Officer Delorenzi noticed a rifle barrel poking out from the bottom of his jacket. VilchezDavila was immediately placed in handcuffs and found to have an unregistered, loaded AR-15 style pistol with a high-capacity magazine. Daly City Detectives immediately followed up and served a search warrant on VilchezDavila’s house. They located a sawed-off shotgun, a 9mm ghost gun, a .38 caliber revolver, another shotgun, and approximately 400 grams of cocaine for the purpose of sales. Thousands of dollars in cash was also seized. VilchezDavila was booked into jail on numerous felony charges.
 
 
Robberies
 
There was one robbery during the past week.
 
On Thursday, 08-25-22, at approximately 10:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Smoke Shop at Skyline Plaza on a report of a suspicious circumstance, which turned out to be a robbery. The victim stated he was struck on the back of the head with a firearm by three suspects. The victim fell to the ground and the suspects continued to hit him. The victim described the first suspect as a Black male in his twenties, wearing a full face mask and all green clothing. The second suspect was described as a Black male in his twenties, wearing a full face mask, gray sweatshirt, and black pants. The third suspect was described as a Black male in his twenties, wearing a full face mask and all dark clothing. The suspects yanked the victim’s gold chain off his neck. The suspects also took the victim’s iPhone 13 Pro Max, car and store keys, and French Bulldog. The stolen items were valued at approximately $21,000. The suspects fled in a newer model, black-colored Hyundai Elantra. This investigation is continuing.
 
 
Residential Burglaries
 
There was one residential burglary during the past week.
 
On Tuesday, 08-23-22, at approximately 10:00 a.m., officers were dispatched to the unit block of Westpark Drive on a report of a residential burglary. The victim stated that when she arrived home, her garage door was not working, and she noticed that the side door to her garage was left open. Officers checked the residence and noticed several areas of the home were ransacked. The victim stated that the suspect took approximately $60,000-$70,000 worth of jewelry, $500 cash, checkbooks, and credit cards. This investigation is continuing.
 
 
Commercial Burglaries
 
There were two commercial burglaries during the past week.
 
On Wednesday, 08-24-22, at approximately 7:40 p.m., two suspects, a male and a female, entered the Shell gas station located on Gellert Boulevard and took approximately $1,920 worth of Lottery scratchers and fled in a white four-door sedan. This investigation is continuing.
 
On Wednesday, 08-24-22, at approximately 7:55 p.m., two suspects, a male and a female, entered the Chevron gas station located on Hickey Boulevard and took approximately $1,580 worth of Lottery scratchers and fled in a white 2019 Volkswagen Jetta. This investigation is continuing.
 
 
Vehicle Burglaries   
 
There was one vehicle burglary reported during the past week.
 

  • 700 block of Higate Drive —backpack containing a MacBook Pro was taken from the trunk of a 2014 Audi S5. Occurred on 08-26-22, at approximately 10:30 a.m.
 
 
Stolen Vehicles  
 
There were seven vehicles stolen during the past week. Two vehicles were recovered.
 
  • Unit block of Hillcrest Drive—a 2014 Nissan Altima. Occurred on 08-22-22 at approximately 5:15 a.m.
 
  • 92nd Street and Bryant Street—a 2004 GMC Escalade. Occurred on 08-22-22 between 6:50 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.
 
  • Unit block of Los Olivos Avenue—a 1996 Dodge Dakota. Occurred between 6:00 p.m. on 08-25-22 and 7:30 a.m. on 08-26-22.
 
  • 600 block of Florence Street—a 2004 Cadillac Escalade. Occurred between 11:00 p.m. on 08-25-22 and 5:30 a.m. on 08-26-22. **Recovered by SSFPD on 08-26-22.
   
  • Vale Street and Station Avenue — a 2022 Toyota Camry. Occurred between 5:00 p.m. on 08-26-22 and 8:00 a.m. on 08-27-22. **Recovered by CHP on 08-27-22.  
 
  • 800 block of Campus Drive—a 2011 BMW 550I. Occurred between 7:00 p.m. on 08-28-22 and 12:00 p.m. on 08-29-22. **Recovered by Alameda County Sheriff’s Department on 08-29-22.
 
 
Miscellaneous
 
  • There were 154 cases taken.
 
  • There were 10 domestic disturbance cases reported.
 
  • There were 5 cases involving an involuntary psychiatric hold.
 
  • There were 10 malicious mischief/vandalism cases reported.
 
  • There were 2 cases for public intoxication.
 
  • There were 2 hit-and-run collisions reported.
 
  • There were 17 narcotics-related cases taken.
