* WHERE...Sacramento Valley, northern San Joaquin Valley, Delta, and adjacent foothills and mountains.

* WHEN...From 11 AM Sunday to 8 PM PDT Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Extreme heat will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities over the holiday weekend.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The most significant heat is forecast to occur Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. There will be limited overnight relief from the heat, with low temperatures only in the upper 60s to mid 80s.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
