San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Continues its Commitment to Fight Illegal Marijuana Grows
DATE/TIME: September 2, 2022
INCIDENT: Operation Hammer Strike
LOCATION: San Bernardino County
SUMMARY:
The residents of San Bernardino County voiced their concerns about the rapid increase of illegal cannabis operations that plague the environment, make their communities unsafe, and threaten natural resources.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Code Enforcement, and the Board of Supervisors listened and took action. Over the past year, Operation Hammer Strike has eradicated nearly 1,100 illegal cannabis grow locations with over 8,600 greenhouses taken out of commission.
During the service of these search warrants, our teams seized over 1.4 million cannabis plants, 97 tons of processed marijuana, and 175 pounds of concentrated cannabis, along with over 350 firearms. The estimated street value of cannabis seized during Operation Hammer Strike is over one billion dollars.
The Sheriff’s Department is committed to the success of Operation Hammer Strike. The program has evolved from part-time teams to two full-time expanded teams in partnership with local, state, and federal authorities.
The Sheriff’s Department would like to thank the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors for supporting and funding Operation Hammer Strike. The collaborative effort helps to protect our citizens and communities.
