Labor Day Reminders
Michiana residents,
I wanted to send along a few reminders as Labor Day weekend approaches.
The state law on fireworks are that they are legal the Saturday and Sunday immediately preceding Labor Day until 11:45 p.m. ET on each of those days. Please be considerate of your neighbors and the community as a whole when you light them off. Please remember that they are not legal on any public property, including the beach. If you rent your home, renters are not allowed to set off fireworks on rental property at any time.
If you have a non emergency issue, please call our dispatch center at 866-630-7679. This is the fastest way to get a response from us as we are not always in the office and available to answer the phone.
Also, please remember that you must be 16 years of age in order to operate a golf cart. Please remember to yield to vehicle traffic and let them pass.
Last but not least, please keep your dog on a leash at all times.
I hope everyone had a great summer and please have a safe and healthy Labor Day weekend.
Thank you,
Ryan Layman, Chief of Police
