Two Arrested, Nine Cited at Novato DUI Checkpoint
Novato, Calif. – On Friday September 2, 2022, two drivers were arrested for DUI at Novato Police DUI checkpoint.
The checkpoint was held at South Novato Blvd at Sunset Parkway. Nine drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license, 339 vehicles were contacted, with 26 directed to the secondary screening area. One DUI driver was arrested for other criminal charges for transportation of controlled substances for sale.
DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints are to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.
Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
