Update on Victim Who was Found Underneath a Capsized Boat After Monsoon Storm Hits Lake Havasu

VICTIM(S): 17-year-old Female Victim, Resident of Pico Rivera, CA

On Monday, September 5, 2022, at 7:17 p.m., the female juvenile victim succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.

SUMMARY: On September 4, 2022, at appoximately 5:31 pm, a monsoon storm struck Lake Havasu that resulted in extremely high winds. Deputies from the Colorado River Station's Marine Enforcement Unit responded to a capsized boat near Havasu Landing Casino on Lake Havasu. It was reported there were mulitple people in the water and one juvenile trapped underneath the boat.
Mohave County Sheriff's Divers arrived on scene and recovered the female from underneath the capsized boat. Lake Havasu Fire treated the female and transported her to Havasu Regional Medical Center and she was eventually flown to Phoenix Children's Hospital. The San Bernadino County Sheriff's Department is conducting the investigation.
