On September 1, 2022, Sheriff’s Gang Unit (SGU) detectives arrested Allen Rosales in Camarillo for various firearm, ammunition, narcotics, theft, and elder abuse violations. In late August 2022, Ventura County Crime Stoppers received a tip about Rosales being involved in unlawful firearm activities and threatening to commit crimes with firearms in Ventura County. SGU detectives immediately began investigating the crime tip. Detectives determined Rosales is a convicted felon and prohibited from owning, purchasing, or possessing firearms and ammunition. Detectives obtained a search warrant for Rosales and his vehicle. On September 1, 2022, at approximately 1326 hours, detectives made a traffic stop on Rosales as he drove his vehicle in the 600 block of Woodcreek Road in Camarillo. Rosales was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance. Detectives searched Rosales’ vehicle pursuant to the search warrant and located a semi-automatic handgun, live ammunition, spent shell casings, and a small amount of suspected methamphetamine. Detectives learned Rosales was acting as a caretaker for an elderly Camarillo resident. Detectives then obtained a search warrant for residences in Camarillo and the unincorporated area of Oxnard known as Nyeland Acres. Detectives served the residential search warrant and determined Rosales had taken at least one firearm and ammunition from the elderly victim’s residence, without permission. Rosales was arrested and booked at the Ventura Pre-Trial Detention Facility for various firearm, ammunition, narcotics, theft, and elder abuse violations. Rosales subsequently posted bail and has a pending future court date.
