Heat Advisory Statewide Flex Alert September 6 from 4-9 pm
For the seventh consecutive day, CAISO has issued a Flex Alert effective 4 pm-9 pm today, Tuesday, September 6, 2022. Today is supposed to be the peak of the heat wave, and PG&E is forecasting record demand for electricity in California. The grid operator issued the Flex Alert due to continuing extreme temperatures statewide and throughout the western US, pushing up energy use. CAISO also calls for voluntary conservation steps to help balance supply and demand. When consumers reduce electricity use at critical times, it can prevent more dire emergency measures, including CAISO-ordered rolling outages across California to alleviate pressure on the grid. CAISO will make definitive decisions as this heat event progresses.
Please Note:
Due to the immediate nature of this type of emergency, if CAISO orders rotating outages, it is not always possible to notify customers much in advance. However, PG&E will inform customers to the best of its ability via the web, media, and social network channels when appropriate.
All PG&E customers have an assigned “Outage Block” number, which is included on their monthly bill and can be found using this link www.pge.com/rotatingoutages.
