Northern Vigo County Homicide Investigation 
On August 19, 2022 Vigo County Sheriff Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance in the 3900 Block of east Sandalwood Ave in Northern Vigo County. Deputies responded and learned that 83 year old Etta Stevenson had been battered by her son, 55 year old Kevin Stevenson, who lived at the address with Ms. Stevenson. At that time Kevin was taken into custody for Domestic Battery and transported to the Vigo County jail.
On Aug 31, 2022 Vigo County Sheriff’s Office was made aware that Ms. Stevenson’s health was declining due to the incident. Unfortunately, Ms. Stevenson passed away on September 2, 2022 in Union Hospital.
On September 2, 2022 an autopsy was conducted on Ms. Stevenson by Dr. Roland Kohr at Regional Hospital. The preliminary results were listed as complications of cervical spine fracture with a manner of death listed as homicide.
Due to the circumstances of the case and investigation, in recent days an arrest warrant was applied for and obtained for Kevin Stevenson on the charge of Murder. The warrant was served on Stevenson on September 6, 2022, while he was incarcerated at the Vigo County Jail. Stevenson is being held on bond.
