-IMPD Aggravated Assault Detectives Make Arrest in Shooting Investigation

IMPD Aggravated Assault Detectives arrested 30-year-old Joshua Burke for his alleged involvement in a shooting that occurred on Monday, September 5, 2022.

On Monday, September 5, 2022, at approximately 9:45 pm, IMPD Southeast District officers were dispatched to the 300 block of S. Gray Street reference a person shot. Officers located the victim, who sustained injuries consistent with a gunshot wound(s). Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services (IEMS) arrived and transported the victim to an area hospital in serious condition.

IMPD aggravated assault detectives arrived and began the investigation. During the investigation Mr. Burke became a person of interest.

IMPD Detectives continued the investigation and arrested Burke for his alleged role in the shooting. Burke was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
