Rohnert Park Catalytic Converter Thefts

Rohnert Park has experienced a significant amount of catalytic converter thefts within the last several months. Most of these thefts occur overnight, with the thieves targeting Toyota Prius, Honda sedans and Ford pick-up trucks.

Yesterday morning at about 8:45, three suspects in a gray Lexus with black trim on the front, attempted to steal a catalytic converter from a Prius on San Simeon Drive. A witness interrupted the theft, and the suspects fled the area in the vehicle prior to officers arriving on scene.

The driver is described as a white female between 45 and 50 years old, with shoulder length graying hair. The other two suspects were white male adults wearing face coverings. One of the male suspects got out of the car with a jack but took the jack with him when he left. A witness gave a partial California plate of 8WHD.

Please be on the lookout for any suspicious activity involving these suspects or others trying to steal catalytic converters. Suspects will use jacks and power saws to remove the catalytic converters. The suspects work fast and are usually gone within a couple of minutes.

If you witness an in-progress crime, call 911 and provide suspect descriptions, vehicle descriptions and directions of travel. You may report non-emergency calls by calling (707) 584-2600.
