Extreme Fire Danger and Burn Ban in Seaside

Seaside, Ore. – Sept. 8, 2022 – The Oregon Department of Forestry Astoria District has declared an Extreme Fire Danger for the North Oregon Coast, including all of the City of Seaside, effective 1 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 9, 2022.

Under an Extreme Fire Danger, all campfires in Seaside (including beach fires) are prohibited, trails are closed to motorized use, and most spark-emitting activities are prohibited, such as welding in forest environments, non-industrial use of chainsaws, and mowing of cured grasses.

Low humidity combined with strong east winds make for the riskiest fire conditions faced in our region so far this year. Dangerous conditions are expected to begin Friday morning, peak Friday night, and remain on Saturday, according to ODF. During this time, fires may start easily and spread quickly.

The public is urged to use caution and observe the restrictions until the Fire Danger Level is lowered.
