Flood Advisory until 07:30PM Thursday

* WHAT...Arroyo and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected over the northwest portion of the Hermits Peak Calf Canyon burn scar.

* WHERE...Portions of north central and northeast New Mexico, including the following counties, in north central New Mexico, Rio Arriba and Taos. In northeast New Mexico, Mora.

* WHEN...Until 730 PM MDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 430 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause arroyo and small stream flooding. Between 0.25 and 0.5 inches of rain have fallen. - High flows are possible in the Rio Pueblo and Rito Angostura. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Tres Ritos. - This includes the following highways... State Road 518 between Mile Markers 42 and 54.

* AFFECTED AREAS: MORA, NM ... RIO ARRIBA, NM ... TAOS, NM

Instructions:

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Runoff from rainfall will cause elevated water levels within vulnerable drainages in and downstream of the Hermits Peak Calf Canyon fire burn area.
