Crime Alert Bulletin Covering the Week of August 29-September 4, 2022
When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.
Robberies
There were three robberies during the past week.
On Friday, 09-02-22, at approximately 4:36 p.m., Champs Sports was robbed by nine suspects. The assistant manager stated the suspects were eight Black males, all wearing hoods and ski masks, along with one Black female. The suspects vary in age range from 20-40 years old. The suspects went to the wall with the Nike Tech Fleece clothing. A manager went over to assist. One of the suspects threatened the manager and stated that if the manager tried to stop them, they would hurt all of the employees. The manager said that not all the suspects selected items, but the ones that did were all male. The suspects were in the store for six minutes and then left. The stolen sweatshirts and joggers are valued at approximately $2,650. This investigation is continuing.
On Saturday, 09-03-22, at approximately 2:38 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Washington Street on a report of a fight. A rideshare driver had his backpack taken by a passenger. The rideshare driver chased the suspect in an attempt to retrieve the backpack. A physical altercation occurred where the driver sustained injuries to his knees, elbows, and face. The victim also communicated that the suspect choked him. The victim was able to retrieve his backpack. The suspect, a 28-year-old Daly City resident, was arrested. The suspect was searched, and suspected Xanax, suspected cocaine, and multiple ID cards and bank cards in other people’s names were found. The suspect also had an outstanding warrant. The suspect was booked into jail for robbery, possession of controlled substances, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, misappropriation of lost property, committing a felony while on bail, and the outstanding warrant.
On Saturday, 09-03-22, at approximately 8:39 p.m., an officer was flagged down by a Dick’s Sporting Goods’ loss prevention manager who saw subjects exit the store with merchandise in their hands. One of the suspects had jerseys in his hand. Meanwhile, the store manager had also called to report the incident. The store manager stated that he was notified by staff that a suspect had placed socks in one of their bags. The store manager told the suspects, “If you’re going to steal, can you guys just get out of here?” The first suspect walked up to the store manager and began cursing at him and told the store manager that he was going to have him killed. The first suspect got within arm’s reach of the store manager; therefore, the store manager felt the need to grab a rod to protect himself. Both suspects started yelling at the employees around the area. A sales associate said she saw the three suspects enter the store and walk around for a while. The store manager asked them to leave. Two suspects started to walk away and exit the store, and one suspect stayed in the store for a few minutes. The suspect who stayed began speaking to the sales associate who asked him to leave. This suspect began yelling at the sales associate and said he was going to hit her. This made the sales associate afraid, and she felt like the suspect would hit her. The suspect got closer to her, so she backed away from the suspect. The approximate value of stolen merchandise is $500. After the suspects left, two of the three suspects were located at the intersection of Junipero Serra Boulevard and Serramonte Boulevard and identified by Dick’s Sporting Goods staff as the individuals involved. Both suspects had controlled substances on their person, and one of the suspects had clothing belonging to Dick’s Sporting Goods. A 42-year-old South San Francisco resident was arrested and booked into jail for narcotics charges and other felonies. The second suspect, a 27-year-old Vallejo resident, was arrested and booked into jail for robbery, narcotic charges, and a warrant.

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access a neighborhood if they don’t live there.
