Narrative: Now that school is back in session and the warm weather is here, we see more children enjoying the outdoors by riding their bicycles, scooters, and skateboards. The Fillmore Citizen’s Patrol has come together to host a “Bicycle Safety Rodeo Community Event.” The goal is to provide safety tips and opportunities to learn how to be a safer rider. In many cases, these events are the only opportunities to educate parents and children about the safety aspects of riding a bicycle, skateboard, or scooter on streets. Our goal is to empower young children on bikes with a minimal set of skills for street and road riding. In addition, they will be taught a small subset of the rules of the road to keep them safe. A Bicycle Safety Rodeo is a safety clinic where young riders can learn about proper safety and the rules of the road. There will be a bicycle safety course chalked out for basic riding skills. You are invited to bring your bicycles, skateboards, and scooters to test your safety skills. Free bicycle helmets will be given away while supplies last. There will be a free raffle for bikes, skateboards, and scooters. You can also make a smoothie on a blender bike! Members of the Fillmore Citizen’s Patrol, Ventura County Fire Department and Ventura County Sheriff’s Office will be in attendance. Please come and join us for this free community event. |
