UPDATE: Investigators Identify and Arrest Two Suspects who Robbed a Shopper in Rancho Cucamonga

Detectives from the Rancho Cucamonga Sheriff's Station's Multiple Enforcement Team (MET) assumed the investigation into a robbery at the Victoria Gardens Mall.
During the initial investigation, detectives learned two shoppers were robbed of personal property, in a common area of the mall. During the commission of the robbery, one round from a handgun was fired at the victims. The victims, nor anyone else at the mall, were injured.
The suspects fled prior to the arrival of responding deputies. Multiple deputies and officers with the California Highway Patrol responded, established a perimeter, and verified there were no armed suspects in or around the mall.
Through continued investigation, detectives identified the robbery suspects as a 16-year-old male juvenile and an 18-year-old-male, identified as Efren Tui.
On September 8, 2022, detectives and investigators served search warrants at two residences in San Bernardino and recovered the victim's property taken during the robbery. The suspects were also located and taken into custody.
Investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department’s Specialized Enforcement Division, and San Bernardino County Juvenile Probation assisted MET detectives in the investigation.
Both suspects were arrested and booked for PC 664/187-Attempted Murder. Tui was booked into the West Valley Detention Center and the 16-year-old male juvenile was booked into San Bernardino County Juvenile Hall.

SUMMARY: On Monday, September 5, 2022, deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department responded to the Victoria Gardens mall, regarding a report of an active shooter.
Deputies arrived on scene and determined no active shooter incident had occurred. Through investigation it was discovered two male subjects robbed a mall customer at gunpoint. During the robbery, one of the suspects fired a gun before fleeing the scene. No one was injured during the incident.
A thorough search of the mall area was conducted, to ensure the safety of the public. The investigation is ongoing.
