Felony OWI 4th Offense
On September 10, 2022 at 12:45AM, an officer with the Middleton Police Department observed a motorcyclist stopped on the roadway for westbound traffic on University Avenue at Hickory Hollow Drive. The motorcycle appeared to be disabled so the officer contacted the individual.
The officer identified the operator of the motorcycle as Mayolo Carranza-Ortega, age 31, of Middleton. Initially, Carranza-Oretga obstructed the officer by providing a false name, but the officer was eventually able to determine who he was. The officer noted a strong odor of intoxicants coming from Carranza-Ortega’s breath and his speech was slurred. Carranza-Oretga admitted to drinking two intoxicating beverages.
Following field sobriety testing, Carranza-Oretga was arrested for 4th offense operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated (OWI), a felony. A breath sample was acquired from Carranza-Ortega which was .20. Carranza-Ortega has a .02 restriction related to his previous OWI offenses.
Carranza-Oretga was booked into the Dane County Jail for the felony OWI and Obstructing. He was also ticketed for operating while revoked.
