INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Collision
LOCATION: E Avenue and Hercules Street, Hesperia
INVOLVED PARTY (1): 24-year-old male (Driver) resident of Apple Valley
INVOLVED VEHICLE (1): 2016 Kia Soul
INVOVLED PARTY (2): 20-year-old male (Driver), resident of Hesperia
INVOLVED VEHICLE (2): 1998 Chevrolet Blazer
SUMMARY: On Friday, September 09, 2022, at about 9:12 p.m., deputies from the Hesperia Station and emergency personnel from the San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to a traffic collision involving a 2016 Kia Soul and a 1998 Chevrolet Blazer, in the area of E Avenue and Hercules Street in Hesperia.
Through preliminary investigation, it is believed the Chevrolet was traveling north on E Avenue and the Kia was traveling north on E Avenue behind the Chevrolet. The Kia collided with the rear of the Chevrolet, causing the Chevrolet to roll one time. A 75-year-old male passenger in the Chevrolet sustained major injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 24 year-old-male driver of the Kia was transported to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries sustained during the collision.
Investigators from the Hesperia Station Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) responded and assumed the investigation. It is still under investigation whether or not drugs and/or alcohol were a factor in this crash. The identity of the deceased male is being withheld, pending notification of next of kin.
