Pomona Police Investigate Fatal Traffic Collision

On September 11th, 2022, at about 2:03 AM, Pomona Police Dispatch received a call of a possible vehicle versus train traffic collision on Palomares St, north of First St. When officers arrived on scene, they discovered a collision involving a sedan that had apparently broadsided a moving freight train at a high rate of speed; the involved driver appeared gravely injured. LA County Fire arrived on scene, but the victim had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs played a factor in this collision. The freight train involved belongs to Union Pacific Railroad; they are cooperating fully with the investigation.
Palomares St. is still closed between First St and Commercial St.
