Flash Flood Warning until 08:30PM Sunday

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for... South Central Rio Arriba County in north central New Mexico...

* Until 830 PM MDT.

* At 543 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain near Coyote and Youngsville. Between 1.25 and 2 inches of rain have fallen in the last hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Youngsville and Coyote. This includes Highway 96 between Coyote and Youngsville. High and fast flows are also possible in Coyote Creek, Rito Encino and the Rio Puerco.

* AFFECTED AREAS: RIO ARRIBA, NM

Instructions:

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly or mountainous terrain there are numerous of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
