The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.
September 9th
Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 900 block of King Drive
At approximately 7:31am an El Cerrito Community Service Officer checked on an abandoned vehicle and determined it was reported stolen from the 700 block of Ashbury Ave in El Cerrito on 9/2/2022. The vehicle was stored and will be released to the owner.
Auto Burglary – Kearney Street at Wall Avenue;
At 1:34 am an officer was patrolling the area and saw a vehicle with both front windows shattered. The officer authored a report and left a note for the owner of the vehicle to call him about the damage.
September 10th
Arrest for Drug Paraphernalia/Trespassing/Warrant – Stockton Ave at Lexington Ave.
At approximately 1:57pm officers responded to the area for a male looking into resident’s yards and trying to open their front doors. Officers detained a 34 year old male from Richmond, whom was positively identified by a victim during an infield show up. The victim said they confronted the male, after they saw him in their backyard, by her backdoor. The male was in possession of a methamphetamine pipe and had a warrant for his arrest from the Richmond Police Department for violating a court order and vandalism. The male was arrested and booked at the El Cerrito Police Department. The male was released on a citation for his warrant and possession of drug paraphernalia, and then was transported to the County Jail in Martinez for trespassing.
September 11th
McBear’s, 10458 San Pablo Ave.
Assault with a Deadly Weapon/Battery/Probation Violation –
At approximately 9:00am, a 32 year old male entered the bar and started making strange comments to the bartender and other patrons. When the owner asked him to leave, the male threw a glass mug at the bartender. Bar staff and patrons detained the male and called police. The male was transported to the County Hospital in Martinez for minor injuries and then taken to County Jail.
