LIVE Wireless Emergency Alert Test Tuesday September 13 at 10AM in Morris
The Grundy County Emergency Management Agency has been chosen to partner with the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau to test the performance of the Wireless Emergency Alert System (WEA) by initiating a LIVE WEA Test on Tuesday September 13th at 10am. This alert should automatically be received by every phone within a half mile radius of 1320 Union St. in Morris, Illinois. The Grundy County Emergency Management Agency is one of 42 agencies across 19 States that have been chosen for this partnership.
What I am asking of you as citizens/visitors is to participate in the Wireless Emergency Alert Test as a member of the public if you do receive the alert. (It is really quite simple, receive the test & reply to the short survey.)
The Grundy County Emergency Management Agency has a number of Control Group Volunteers randomly located within this radius that will complete the survey as well.
Why is this important? This is an unprecedented FCC effort to strengthen Wireless Emergency Alerts, using survey information to assess the timeliness and success of alert delivery of a geographically targeted area as determined by Grundy County Emergency Management Agency.
I want to Thank You in advance for participating as a member of the public.
Sincerely,
Joe Schroeder, EMA Director
