Suspect arrested for Criminal Threats and Burglary

On September 15, at approximately 1:30 AM, Simi Valley Police Officers were dispatched to the 7-11 located at 1369 Erringer Rd in reference to an unknown problem.

SVPD dispatch had received a 911 call from the clerk at the location who was attempting to describe some type of a disturbance but a language barrier prohibited them from confirming what exactly was occurring. When Officers arrived on scene they determined that shortly before the call a suspect had entered the store brandishing a large knife and told the clerk that he was going to "kill" him. The suspect then chased the clerk who retreated into a nearby bathroom and locked the door.  The suspect proceeded to vandalize various parts of the store before fleeing on foot in an unknown direction. Officers confirmed the crime via the stores surveillance video and were also able to identify the suspect from previous contacts as Victor Rios, a 31 year old resident of Simi Valley.

Patrol units saturated the area in search of the suspect and at approximately 2:36 AM, located Rios in the 1700 block of Spence St. where he was detained without incident. A Knife was located nearby and the clerk ultimately positively identified Rios as the suspect. Rios was arrested and transported to Ventura County Jail where he was booked for Criminal Threats, Burglary and Vandalism.
