REMINDER: Today, September 15^th from 9am to Noon will be in-house sign up for Priority Waste at Township Hall

Dear Residents,
 
There has been numerous questions, concerns, and rumors over the Current and New Single Waste Hauler Contract.
 
New Single Waste Hauler Contract:   Our current contract with GFL will expire on 9-30-2022, which resulted in putting out a Single Waste Hauler Contract out to bid in the spring of 2022.  We received (3) bids from waste haulers, including: GFL, Priority Waste, and Waste Management.  The board voted on July 13th to approve the contract with Priority Waste to being on 10-1-2022 for a 3 year contract with a option to renew for 3 years, similar to GFL and past carriers.
 
FYI - Some of the reasons for voting to go with Priority Waste:

• Additional New Discounts: Senior Discounts of 3% and Veteran Discounts of 3%, as well as (1) Month Free with a paid year in advance.
• Locally Owned and Office located on Hall Road/Romeo Plank
• Better Customer Service - Call center has 3 minute wait max.
• Cameras on all trucks to monitor drivers and pickup of trash and GPS on trucks.
• Better Pricing
• New Fleet of trucks - which will decrease complaints we receive on fluid spills on our streets.

Common Questions/Concerns:

• Residents can use current or any trash receptacle for curbside pick up
• Pick up date will remain the same
• Residents questioning current Pricing from GFL is cheaper, but current prices expire 9-30-2022 per the current contract that we had for (7) years and was rebid by GFL at higher prices.
• There is NO Fuel Charge.
• Romeo Village has no change in Service and remains on GFL for another year per their contract
• There is a 3% Senior Discount and a 3% Veteran Discount - can be used together for 6% along with a discount of (1) free month with a one year paid in full agreement.
• Yard Waste and Recycling containers can be any brand container
• Priority does allow for residents to purchase new garbage cans online.
• Priority offers alla cart options: Trash Only, or residents can add on Compost and Recycling at additional fees.

Pricing: Current Pricing with GFL was not an option, their contract was up and they submitted new pricing.  Attached are the new rates with Priority Waste:
 
What Needs to be done: We are asking all residents to please sign up on-line for service at www.PriorityWaste.com.  We will have (3) in house signup events at the township:

• Thursday, September 15th 9am-Noon
• Saturday, September 17th 9am-Noon
• Tuesday, September 20th Noon-6p.m.
• We may have more dates, I also will make myself available if someone needs help to sign up.
• You can sign up anytime on-line at: www.PriorityWaste.com 
  • *In order to receive Senior 3% and/or Veteran 3% discount please email supporting documentation to [email protected] such as Driver License.
  • Credit will be applied within 15 days of receipt.

A change like this after several years in challenging, but working together through any new process is essential, I assure you we are working with Priority Waste to ensure you the residential customer will get through this brief period. I appreciate everyone’s patience, cooperation and neighborly understanding as we get everyone in Washington Township signed up for their new service.
