Pedestrian Shot at as he Walks Past a Home in Adelanto; Suspect Taken into Custody

LOCATION: 17800 Block of Bellflower Street, Adelanto
VICTIM: 28-year-old Male Resident of Adelanto
SUSPECT: Carlos Meza, 27-year-old Resident of Adelanto
SUMMARY:
On Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at 11:54pm, deputies received a call regarding a shooting that occurred on Monday, September 12, 2022, in the 17800 block of Bellflower Street in Adelanto.
According to the victim, he was walking past the residence when the suspect, later identified as Carlos Meza, fired a gun at him. When deputies contacted Meza, he was found in possession of a stolen handgun. The investigation confirmed Meza fired one round as the victim was walking by the residence. Meza and the victim do not know each other and the motive for the shooting is unknown.
Meza was arrested for possession of stolen property and willful discharge of a firearm. He was booked at High Desert Detention Center.
