The current TikTok auto theft challenge encourages people to steal 2010-2021 Kia and Hyundai vehicles of various models, causing an increase in auto thefts. These vehicles are not equipped with an ignition immobilizer, but uses a mechanical key—not a key fob, and push-button to start the vehicle. The ignition is typically compromised by utilizing a USB cord, most of which can already be found inside the vehicle in plain view. If you have any information, please contact the Inglewood Police Department.

This year in Inglewood, Kia and Hyundai vehicles comprised of 34% of total vehicle thefts. Last year, Kia and Hyundai vehicles comprised of 24% of total vehicle thefts, making it a 10% increase theft of these vehicles.
