Incident Summaries:

On 09-19-2022, at approximately 1:39 A.M., a Petaluma Officer observed a vehicle weaving and make an unsafe lane change. The Officer attempted to make a traffic enforcement stop on the vehicle for the above violations at Lakeville Street and Caulfield Lane. The driver, later identified as Misaela Cabrera, failed to yield to the officer’s emergency equipment and entered the southbound US Highway 101. A pursuit was initiated, and the vehicle continued southbound US Highway ranging from speeds of 55-65 miles per hour. The vehicle subsequently exited the De Long Avenue offramp in Novato and came to a stop. A high-risk stop was conducted, and Cabrera was taken into custody without incident. The pursuit lasted approximately 10 minutes and covered 10 miles.

Cabrera was booked into the Sonoma County Jail for misdemeanor evading. She is not currently in custody.

On 09-19-2022, at approximately 10:53 P.M., Petaluma Officers were dispatched to a hit and run collision which occurred on East Washington Street at eh intersection of the southbound Hwy. 101 off-ramp.  The victim of the collision was following the suspect vehicle. The victim had followed the vehicle onto Ellis Street where he eventually lost sight of it. Petaluma Officers arrived on scene within minutes and during the investigation the suspect vehicle drove by the area. Police Officers immediately followed the vehicle along surface streets attempting to catch up to it. The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Cupertino Giron, began driving erratically reaching speeds up to 65 miles per hour and running several stop signs. A pursuit was initiated and the pursuit last for several blocks before the vehicle yielded to Officers in the area of East Washington Street and Edith Street. A high-risk stop was performed and Giron and his passenger were taken into custody without incident. It was later determined after the pursuit that Giron’s passenger had requested to be let out of the vehicle on several occasions and Giron refused.
