On Wednesday June 23, 2021, at approximately 10:35 PM, Harris County Sheriff's Office District 3 deputies responded to a major accident in the 3200 block of Signal Hill Drive in the Heritage Park Subdivision in far south Harris County.

When deputies arrived on scene they found that a white SUV Ford Explorer had crashed into a residence.

40-year-old Joseph Michael Spells was the lone occupant of the vehicle.

He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Deputies canvassed the area and discovered numerous shell casings in the roadway in close proximity to the crash scene.

Investigators say that a 2001 Crown Victoria marron in color was seen during the shooting.  The vehicle has distinct rims , and the the front left rim is missing.

It also has a white colored circular shape sticker on the back windshield.

The suspect vehicle is seen pulling into a neighboring driveway, then pulls back out slowly in front of the victim’s residence.

It parks further down the street, and turns its light off until the victim arrives in his vehicle.

They then pull alongside of Mr. Spells, and a male suspect exits and shoots into his vehicle.
