On September 9, 2022, Sheriff’s Gang Unit detectives arrested Rickey Reveles in Oxnard for various firearm, narcotics, and graffiti vandalism violations. On September 16, 2022, Sheriff’s Gang Unit detectives arrested Adrian Barraza in Oxnard for various firearm and conspiracy violations. In June and July, 2022, SGU detectives began investigating members of an Oxnard based tagging crew, including Rickey Reveles and Adrian Barraza, for unlawful firearm activities and graffiti vandalisms. Detectives served multiple search warrants to aid the investigation, which showed Reveles and Barraza were in possession of a firearm. Barraza is a convicted felon and currently on probation for a firearm offense. On September 9, 2022, at approximately 0810 hours, detectives conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle Reveles was driving and subsequently arrested him for a narcotics offense and graffiti tools possession. Detectives served a search warrant at Reveles’ residence in the 900 block of E Street in Oxnard. Detectives located an un-serialized, loaded, 9mm semi-automatic handgun, suspected cocaine, narcotics sales indicia, and several spray paint cans. Reveles was booked at the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility for various firearm, narcotics, and graffiti vandalism violations. Reveles posted bail and has a pending court date. On September 16, 2022, at approximately 1700 hours, detectives conducted a probation search of Barraza’s residence in the 400 block of Redwood Street in Oxnard. Based on the investigation, detectives arrested Barraza for various firearm and conspiracy violations. Barraza was booked at the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility and currently remains in-custody for violations of his probation terms. The cases against Reveles and Barraza were submitted for review to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office. The Sheriff’s Gang Unit is comprised of eight detectives, who focus on protecting West County communities from criminal street gang terrorism and reducing violent crime by actively investigating illegal firearm activities. Additionally, the Sheriff’s Office has seen an increase of illegal firearm activities in Ventura County.
