Be Sure to Register for the Living with Wildlife Virtual Seminar on September 29!

On Thursday, September 29 the City of Duarte, in partnership with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, will be hosting a virtual seminar to educate residents on how to safely coexist with the native species in the Duarte foothills. Tune in to hear from a panel of experts as they discuss human-wildlife interactions and managing public safety from 6:30 - 8 PM. Join the virtual seminar [hyperlink to https://bit.ly/duartewildlife] to view presentations from expert panelists and ask questions.

The beautiful foothills of Duarte are home to many species of wildlife, making the likelihood of a wildlife encounter common to Duarte residents. Whether you encounter a bear curiously rummaging through your trash, or a wandering coyote, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife will offer their expertise on how to stay safe and coexist with local wildlife. During the seminar, experts including Human-Wildlife Conflict Specialists Mackenzie Rich and Jessica West, and Wildlife Biologist, Rebecca Barboza, will discuss how residents can best resolve and manage human-wildlife interactions, enhance public safety, and reduce their chances of negative wildlife encounters.

The City of Duarte prioritizes the safety and health of all our residents: humans and wildlife. At the Living with Wildlife virtual seminar, Duarte Public Safety Manager, Larry Breceda, will offer insight into how our community can best respond and prepare for wildlife emergencies. This panel will also address frequently asked questions including how to report wildlife on your property, who to call when you see an orphaned or injured animal, and much more.

Learn how to stay safe and preserve the safety of local wildlife by attending the virtual seminar. Visit the City’s website [hyperlink to accessduarte.com] to register for the event.

If you are unable to attend, the session will be recorded and published to the City’s Youtube channel [hyperlink to https://bit.ly/3UsL9ys] at a later date.
